Owner and contact
- FreelancerGuard is operated by FreelancerGuard.
- For privacy questions, account deletion, or data access requests, contact hello@freelancerguard.fyi.
- No Data Protection Officer or EU representative has been appointed at this stage. If that changes, this policy will be updated.
What we collect
- Scan results: risk score, category scores, flagged pattern matches, verdict, and shareable scan slug.
- Account information: email address, user ID, and subscription plan through Clerk.
- Usage counts: number of Red Flag scans and Scope Creep email generations per month.
- Anonymous usage counters stored in signed, HTTP-only cookies so we can enforce anonymous free limits.
- Billing status and product entitlement information through Polar.
- Feedback submissions about scan accuracy, false positives, missed warning signs, and email usefulness.
What we do NOT collect
- The raw text of your client inquiry or message.
- Client names or identifying information from your inquiry.
- Generated email content, unless a future paid history feature is explicitly enabled and disclosed.
- Payment card numbers. Payments are handled by Polar and its payment processors.
How we use your data
- To provide the service, including red flag scoring, shareable scan pages, and scope creep email generation.
- To authenticate users and manage subscriptions.
- To enforce free tier limits.
- To improve pattern accuracy using aggregated feedback votes and qualitative reports.
- To respond to support, privacy, deletion, and billing requests.
Third-party services

- Supabase (database hosting and storage of app records) - supabase.com/privacy

Data retention
- Scan results and slugs are retained indefinitely so shareable links continue to work.
- Usage counts reset monthly, while historical usage rows may be retained for abuse prevention, analytics, and billing support.
- Account and subscription data is retained while your account is active and deleted or anonymized after account deletion unless retention is required for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution reasons.
- Feedback logs may be retained to improve the pattern library and product quality.
Cookies and local storage
- FreelancerGuard uses strictly necessary authentication/session technologies through Clerk when you sign in.
- FreelancerGuard uses signed, HTTP-only anonymous usage cookies to count free scans and email generations before signup.
- FreelancerGuard uses PostHog analytics to understand product usage, pageviews, conversion funnels, and AI generation performance.
- The Red Flag Detector does not store raw inquiry text in browser local storage.
- We do not run advertising pixels, retargeting scripts, or sell analytics data to third parties.
- See the Cookie Policy for a plain-language list of current storage technologies.
Your privacy choices
We do not sell your personal information. We also do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To request access, deletion, correction, or to raise a privacy concern, email hello@freelancerguard.fyi.
